RBI announces Young Scholars Award Scheme

The Reserve Bank of India has launched the "RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme" for 2007-2008. Launched with the objective of generating interest and awareness about the Indian banking sector and the Reserve Bank of India, the Young Scholars Award Scheme envisages 150 young scholars working on projects in RBI offices for two to three months. The scholars will be selected through a countrywide competitive examination of students aged between 18 and 23 years pursuing their undergraduate studies. The selection examination will focus on the role and functions of the RBI and banks. The applicants will have the option of taking the examination in select regional language too apart from Hindi and English. The examination will be held on March 16, 2008. Selected candidates will work on projects in RBI offices for 2 to 3 months during which they will be paid a stipend of Rs.7500 per month.

Students aspiring to be Young Scholars submit the application online/offline to the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, IBPS House, Post Box No.8587, Mumbai–400101. Further details are available on the RBI Website www.rbi.org.in/youngscholars

The last date for receipt of applications is January 21, 2008.
