# From January 2006, the base is 2001=100. Prior to that the base is 1982 =100. However, for comparison, indices on old as well as new bases have been
published for 2006-07, with the conversion factor being
4.63 for the ‘General Index’ and 4.58 for the ‘Food Group’.
* From November 1995, the base is 1986-87=100. Prior to that, the base is July 1960-June 1961=100. However, for comparison, indices on old as well as new
bases have been published for 1995-96, with the conversion factor being 5.89.
