Notes

:

1.

The table does not include representative office opened by Indian Banks outside India.

  

2.

The table gives the position of branches of Indian Banks as on 31 March and excludes the following :

   

(a)

22 Offices in former East Pakistan before the formation of Bangladesh.

    

The status of the properties of these offices, which were formerly vested with Custodian of Enemy Property, Pakistan, remains unchanged.

(b)

17 offices which were in Pakistan were taken over by that Government as enemy property in September, 1965.

  

3.

Non- Scheduled banks have no office outside the Indian Union.

  

4.

During 1998-99, one branch each of SBI and UCO in the United Kingdom were closed.
