Shri N.V. Deshpande, Legal Adviser made a presentation at the ';Information Technology – Interface with Professionals'; held at WTC Mumbai, conducted by Western India Regional Counsel of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.

Shri S.R. Hegde Addl, Legal Adviser attended a programme on Legislative Drafting conducted by the International Law Institute at Washington DC as nominee of the Bank.

S/Shri A.Krishna Gopal, A.K. Mushtaque and Andrew Joseph have been appointed as Asst. Legal Adviers Gr. ‘C’ w.e.f. 13th May, 31st May and 11th June 1999 respectively.

S/Shri E.M. Sali and Rama Sabba Reddy have been appointed as Legal Officers ‘Gr. B’ w.e.f. 10th May and 14th June 1999 respectively.

The banker, the lawyer, and the politician are still our best bets for a laugh. Audiences haven’t changed at all, and neither has the three above professions.

When you find one of those sacharin persons, every word dripping sweet, it rings a little bell of caution. To change the simile, you look for the claw beneath the velvet. A person with a grapefruit personality, on the other hand, is different. You like the ';tang'; because it seems more natural and has the ring of sincerity. You can win friends and influence people by deeds more than by mere words, although a kind word now and then helps, if genuine. Lawyers are naturally cautious because they have learned from experience that it pays to be cautious.
