Today, the Reserve Bank of India released the web publication ‘Basic Statistical Returns of Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) in India – Volume 45’, whichprovides data on different dimensions of deposits and credit of the banking sector. The information is collected at branch level through Basic Statistical Returns - 1 & 2 (BSR-1&2) annually1. Under BSR-1, information on type of account, organisation, occupation/activity and category of the borrower, district and population group of place of utilisation of credit, rate of interest, credit limit and amount outstanding is collected. Under BSR-2, branch-wise data on type of deposits, maturity pattern of term deposits as well as number of employees are collected.
