New commemorative circulation coin of Rs.5/- denomination (Nickel Brass) on the occasion of "60 years of the Commonwealth"

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put in to circulation new commemorative circulation coins of Rs.5/- denomination (Nickel Brass) issued by the Government of India on the occasion of "60 years of Commonwealth".

Design:

Obverse : The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left upper periphery with the word "भारत" in Hindi and on the right upper periphery flanked with the word "INDIA" in English.  It shall also bear the denominational value "5" in International Numerals below the lion capitol flanked on the left lower periphery with the would "रूपये" in Hindi and on the right lower periphery with the words "RUPEES" in English.

Reverse : The face of coin shall bear the image of "PARLIAMENT OF INDIA' with inscription "राष्ट्रमंडल के 60 वर्ष " in Hindi, on the left periphery and in English "60 YEARS OF THE COMMONWEALTH" on the right periphery and Year "2009" below the image of Parliament of India.

The new Rupee Five Coin is a legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act, 1906.
