The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new coins of Rs.5/- (Nickel-Brass) issued by Government of India on the following theme: -

Design :
Obverse : This face of the coin shall bear the "Lion Capitol" of Ashoka Pillar with the Legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left upper periphery with the word "भारत" in Hindi and on the right upper periphery flanked with the word "INDIA" in English. There will be 52 beads on the periphery.
Reverse : This face of the coin shall bear the denominational value "5" in international numeral in the centre, below that shall be word "RUPEES" in English and the year in international numeral. On the top shall be the word "रुपये" in Hindi flanked on the left and right periphery a bunch of Lotus with leaf design. There shall be 52 beads on the periphery.
Serrations : There are 100 serrations on the edge of the coin.
The new Rupee Five coin is a legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act, 1906.
