The Reserve Bank of India today released the second volume of its statistical publication Handbook of Statistics on State Government Finances. The first volume of the Handbook was published in June 2004.

The publication is a major initiative of the Reserve Bank aimed at improving data dissemination on finances of State Governments. Through this publication, the Reserve Bank has been providing time series consolidated as well as State-wise detailed data on the transactions in the revenue and capital accounts of 28 State Governments and two Union Territories (New Delhi and Puducherry).

The first part of current volume contains 28 tables covering consolidated data on some major fiscal indicators from 1990-91 to 2009-10 (BE).  The second part contains four appendices (I to IV) which cover State-wise detailed data from 2002-03 to 2009-10 (BE) on the transactions in the revenue and capital accounts.

The Handbook is brought out in three versions – print, CD and web. CD version incorporates intelligent search features and also covers data from 1980-81 onwards in the first part and State-wise detailed data from 1990-91 onwards in the second part.
