Issue of new Commemorative Circulation Coin of Rs.5/- denomination (Nickel Brass) on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of "Perarignar Anna"

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new commemorative circulation coins of Rs.5/- denomination (Nickel Brass) issued by Government of India on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of "Perarignar Anna".

Design :

Obverse : The face of coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend  "mel³ecesJe pe³eles" inscribed below, flanked on the left upper periphery with the word "भारत" in Hindi and on the right upper periphery flanked with the word "INDIA" in English.  It shall also bear the denominational value "5" in International Numerals below the Lion Capitol flanked on the left lower periphery with the word "©he³es" in Hindi and right lower periphery with the word "RUPEES" in English.

Reverse : The face of coin shall bear the portrait of "Perarignar Anna" in centre flanked on the left periphery with the word "hesjfjÿej DeÄee peôceMeler" in Hindi and on the right upper periphery the word "PERARIGNAR ANNA CENTENARY" in English. The figure "1909-1969" shall be shown in lower periphery in International Numerals. The signature inscribed below the portrait.

The new Rupee Five Coin is a legal tender as provided in the Indian Coinage Act, 1906.
